We have just released the timetable for Proms and Prosecco in the Park on 14 September and we think this year’s line up might just be the best ever!
Picture the scene……the gates to the stunning Chetwynd Deer Park open at 2pm and you arrive armed with picnics, blankets, tables and chairs, the family candelabra, maybe a bit of union jack bunting and some fab fairy lights for when the sun goes down. You park quickly, with no queues, thanks to ample free parking and excellent car parking stewards provided by the local air force cadets. You step out of the car and walk a few steps to our friendly staff who scan your tickets and have you in the event arena in a jiffy, but not before giving you a copy of the free programme for the event and a token for your free glass of Aperol Spritz (over 18’s only)!
Once inside the arena, perhaps you head for your own pre-erected gazebo which has been hired by you in advance and will be ready and waiting with your name on it….literally! Or perhaps you pick the perfect spot for you to set up camp and settle in with your tables, chairs, blankets and picnics. Maybe you are meeting with friends and family at the event, or perhaps you have been before and know exactly where you always like to sit!
Now that you are comfortably settled in, its time to take a walk around the street food stalls, bars and retail stalls, making a mental note of all the goodies you are going to be buying later on. Find a few minutes to check out our free circus skills workshops and first aid workshops, or wander over to the crazy golf and bubble zorbs where, for a small fee, you can have lots of fun with family and friends. There is still time to check out the loos, which will be just as clean at 9pm as they are at 2pm, thanks to the hard work of toilet service attendant Ray who keeps the looks looking spotless every year. One year he even received tips from our audience as they were so impressed with such clean loos!
And this is all before the music has even started!
At 3pm, BBC Radio Shropshire’s Paul Shuttleworth will take to the stage to introduce the first act of this year’s Proms & Prosecco in the Park, and then, we’re off! So sit back, settle in and get ready for a fabulous afternoon of music for all tastes that looks like this!
3:00 – 3:25 The Ronnies
3:30 – 4:10 Dominic Childs and Simon Callaghan
4:20 – 4:55 The Darby Singers
5:10 – 5:55 Grazia String Quartet
6:10 – 6:50 Blackwell Concert Band
7:05 – 7:50 Classical Reflection
8:00 – 8:45 Jon Moses
8.45 – 9:00 Finale
Music, food and fizz – we can’t wait!
