Jon is preparing a setlist fizzing with musical styles to treat the audience and round off the popular event with a fabulous finale!
“It will be my first time in Newport, which is really exciting, and how better to enjoy it then with a crowd of Prosecco and music loving people.”
One of Britain’s leading Baritones, Jon has thrilled theatre audiences taking the leading role in Jesus Christ Superstar at London’s o2 Arena and recording Journey, an album which peaked at number 5 in the UK charts.
Jon said: “I’m absolutely at home performing for people who are having a little tipple but have never done a Prosecco and Proms format. I have been hard at work selecting songs and putting together a setlist that caters for the festival. We have classical, pop, rock and roll, musical theatre and more to keep the crowd entertained.”
Originally from Sunderland, Jon currently lives in North Yorkshire. After rising to prominence in Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber’s TV search for a lead in Jesus Christ Superstar, Jon’s voice has been a passport to sing all over Europe.
“I have so many great memories of stages I have played all over the world and particularly in London’s West End,” continued Jon. “Some of the most memorable moments have been performing Live on ITV in front of millions for Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s ITV Superstar. Performing at arenas like the o2 Arena and in Birmingham were amazing experiences. My proudest moments have been seeing my album do so well and performing my solo show in theatres all over the UK and cruise ships across the globe.”
Jon is also looking forward to sharing a stage with Classical Reflection at Chetwynd Deer Park and admits to being a fan of Hannah and Naomi.
“I’m really looking forward to meeting Hannah and Naomi from Classical Reflection and I’d like to think we have an opportunity to collaborate,” said Jon.
They will certainly be on stage together for Proms and Prosecco in the Park’s big Last Night of the Proms finale; a spectacular mass performance featuring the Proms’ favourites, Land of Hope and Glory, Rule Britannia and of course Auld Lang Syne!
The future is bright for Jon and he has an important run of dates in his diary this Christmas. Jon will be returning to his home city to play the Prince in Cinderella at the Sunderland Empire, fulfilling a dream to perform in a major show at his city’s premier theatre. (Oh yes he is!)
